How was your weekend? Mine was great! Mike and I had a really good run in the Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole run. I finished in 1:05:24 (not my personal best but very close) and Mike was right behind me, 20 seconds after. It was nice to see all of our hard work and training pay off. There were times when we didn’t run or cross train due to weather and feeling extra tired but our goal was to finish 1:09 or better and we did!
We had a pretty big hill to run, it was about two miles long and it was the Hoan bridge, also Interstate 794. The elevation gain was about 125 feet. When training we made sure to incorporate some hill training and I’m glad we did. The hill never seemed to end, the beginning or the final portion of it.
The race ended at Summerfest grounds and afterwards we enjoyed our free Miller 64 beer on the grounds. The beer wasn’t too bad, being free and all. Polish fest was this weekend and we received free tickets with our race entry fee. We were really excited about this because Polish fest was one of our favorite festivals. Good music, good food, good fun.
After a nap plus food and water, lots of water, we went back downtown to enjoy beer, roasted corn :), pierogies, and sausage. It was so cold, last year the weather was 80 degrees, that I purchased a long sleeved shirt with the Polish eagle. I really like it!
